Mineral Royalties Group Releases Three-Part Buyer Toolkit for Mineral Rights Purchasers
DALLAS, TX – Aug 25, 2026 – Mineral Royalties Group (MRG), a Dallas-based firm that acquires and conveys producing oil and gas mineral rights and overriding royalty interests, today released a free three-part toolkit for individuals considering their first mineral rights purchase. The toolkit combines the company’s Minerals Buyer’s Blueprint, an online royalty calculator, and a property viewer showing the interests MRG currently has available.
Mineral and royalty ownership has historically been concentrated among institutional buyers, family offices, and long-holding landowning families. The barrier for individual buyers has rarely been money. More often it has been access and information: knowing what documents a legitimate transaction produces, what title work should be completed before closing, and who in the industry can facilitate a purchase at all.
The three tools address different points in that gap.
The Minerals Buyer’s Blueprint covers due diligence practices for evaluating a seller, what title work involves and why it should be completed before purchase, the documents a buyer should expect to receive at closing and from the operating oil company afterward, and how mineral ownership compares structurally to brick-and-mortar real estate. The guide advises prospective buyers to involve their own attorney, CPA, or financial advisor before any purchase.
The royalty calculator lets users adjust commodity price assumptions and see how those inputs change royalty output on a per-net-royalty-acre basis. Outputs are estimates based on stated assumptions and are not projections of any particular property’s performance.
The property viewer is the piece with no real equivalent elsewhere. It shows what MRG has available at any given time with property-level detail — location by section, township and range, the operating company, active well count, and surrounding development activity — alongside properties the company has already conveyed to buyers. The viewer currently includes an available overriding royalty interest in the Anadarko Basin of western Oklahoma. Previously conveyed properties span the Anadarko, Permian, and Haynesville basins.
“The single biggest obstacle for a first-time mineral buyer isn’t money — it’s not knowing anyone in the business,” said Doug Harkwick, consultant at Mineral Royalties Group. “This is a tightly held industry with less oversight than real estate, and that opacity keeps good buyers out. We’d rather hand people the questions they should be asking, including the ones they should be asking us.”
MRG acquires interests in producing basins across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. The company conveys deeds directly to the buyer, recorded in the buyer’s name at the county courthouse. Buyers own the mineral interest itself rather than a share of a bundled holding.
All three tools are available at no cost at MineralRoyaltiesGroup.com.
