New Novel, “The Book of Ribbner” by Ronnie Vergnolle, is a Profound Literary Odyssey Through Nature, Loss, and the Age of AI

GREENVILLE, SC – August 22, 2026 – Ronnie Vergnolle, global adventurer, lifelong fisherman, and author, is proud to announce the release of “The Book of Ribbner,” an extraordinary tale that weaves together love, loss, nature, and the existential challenges humanity faces in the era of artificial intelligence.

Vergnolle’s thought-provoking, 372-page work is more than a literary adventure—it is a heartfelt call to action. Inspired by the author’s five-year fishing expedition to the world’s most untouched waters, the book melds suspense and spiritual discovery into a narrative that is as immersive as it is enlightening. Combining themes of grief, a deeper connection to nature, and reflections on humanity’s moral crossroads with artificial intelligence, this genre-defying work blends elements of nature, adventure, philosophy, music, and technology in stunning fashion.

“This story is about the ancient bonds that make life meaningful—the ones we risk losing as technology grows more central to our lives,” says Vergnolle. “Through my fishing journeys and personal tragedies, I’ve come to reflect on what we stand to preserve in the face of looming AI’s unlimited potential.”

A globe-spanning epic narrated through captivating prose, the book explores critical questions in today’s world. How can grief transform, rather than consume us? What wisdom can a fisherman’s sacred code provide in a fast-paced, AI-dominated society? Most importantly, what choices must humanity make to preserve the awe, beauty, and meaning of life itself?

Infused with symbols of love, loss, and wilderness, “The Book of Ribbner” challenges readers to reflect deeply on the implications of merging human life with machine-driven logic.

Vergnolle’s dedication to spreading awareness about these timely themes shines through every chapter. Whether you’re a lover of nature and music, a seeker of spiritual insight, a fly fisherman, or a technologist pondering the crossroads of humanity and AI, this powerful work offers a beacon of light through its eloquent prose and profound themes.

From the Back Cover:

A lonely intrepid fisherman. A sacred fish. A one-legged pirate. And the loneliest whale ever to live.

“The Book of Ribbner” is at once a young woman’s spiritual journey from tragic loss to salvation and, at another, humanity’s trek from its harmonious connection with nature to its unsustainable disconnection with it.

It is at once the story of an intrepid adventure across four continents and at another a tale of epic fishing battles in the remotest parts of the world, taking the reader on a harrowing journey from Sweden to Cape Verde to the Amazon Basin to the Seychelles and to its climactic ending in Bhutan where Hannah Ribbner, a 33-year-old professional fisherman and photographer, experiences a spiritual revelation while she makes a humanity-altering choice. Will she kill the Last Sacred Golden Mahseer?

About the Author:

Ronnie Vergnolle is an author, lifelong fisherman and global adventurer whose search for wild waters became the foundation of “The Book of Ribbner.” Ronnie grew up roaming barefoot through the South Carolina wilderness, exploring his mystical connections with nature until the gravity of modern digital life slowly pulled him away from his connectedness. After earning a BA in English literature from The Citadel and a JD/LLM from Duke University Law School, he pursued an entrepreneurial career, ultimately culminating in the sale of the business he created with his wife, Britt. Liberated, he set out on a five-year fishing journey to the most remote parts of the world to reconnect.
