Bob Klinger Releases The Lizard Christmas, a Holiday Picture Book About a Lizard Who Dreams of Guiding Santa’s Sleigh
Houston, Texas – October 26, 2026 – Author Bob Klinger has released The Lizard Christmas, an illustrated Christmas picture book that follows Larry the Lizard on a long journey from North Carolina to the North Pole.
Larry has one goal in life: to guide Santa’s sleigh. He knows lizards don’t fly and don’t guide sleighs. His friends laugh at him, and Jim the boy lizard calls him crazy. Even his good friend Jaime tells him that reindeer do that job. None of it stops Larry. It only makes him more determined.
So he packs his things and starts walking north. Along the way, he gets help from new friends. In West Virginia, hungry and about to give up, he meets Federico the frog, who feeds him and sends him off with a bag of bugs. In Ohio, Rylee the Rabbit finds him soaked in the rain and takes him home for warm carrot soup until the storm passes. At Lake Erie, Larry, who doesn’t see snow very often, meets Blitzen, one of Santa’s reindeer, who flies him the rest of the way.
At Santa’s workshop, Santa has a different job in mind. Since Larry found his way to the North Pole on his own, Santa asks him to ride in the sleigh as his navigator. On Christmas Eve, Larry helps Santa deliver presents around the world. At the end of the night, the sleigh lands in Larry’s backyard, where his friends lift him onto their shoulders and cheer.
The story is about dreaming big, never giving up, and learning that dreams sometimes come true in ways even better than we imagine. Klinger dedicates the book to his wife Jaime, who urged him to create stories; his daughter Rylee, who always loved a good story; his mother, who loves the Christmas season; and his late brother Jim.
