Big changes surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion are happening in the social conversation these days. People aren’t afraid of calling out institutional discrimination on social media and enacting movements to fight against racism and sexism. Businesses are also recognising the importance of creating a fair and equitable workplace, and ensuring that hiring practices aren’t biased or discriminatory. This is a turning point in society where progress is becoming increasingly noticeable.

But, how are children experiencing this change?

As adults navigate through this complex social issue, children must not be left behind through these changes. It is now more important than ever to start talking to them about what it means to celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion, and learn how to be empathetic and compassionate towards others around them.

“Bringing the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to children seems the right way to enable real change. Children have a beginner’s mindset and are open to learning and listening, which amplifies our impact on the whole family. As a parent, I can attest to the fact that I learn and evolve a lot of my thinking by how my children view the world,” says Nina Bual, co-author and co-founder of Cyberlite Books.

Me, You, and Them is the perfect book to spark this conversation with a child. Young readers ages 8 and up will have fun with this interactive workbook, as they are tasked to put on the greatest variety show in the universe to celebrate cultures and differences. Go behind the scenes to meet show producers Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and help them set up the show by inviting friends along! Learn how to recognise implicit bias and fight against discrimination through encounters with Judgment and Prejudice. Engage with fun and thought-provoking activities that question their privilege and understand how to be compassionate with the main stars, Empathy, Appreciation, and Ally!

This one-of-a-kind workbook covers a wide variety of diversity topics, from race to gender, physical disabilities to LGBTQ+ allyship. It also introduces wealth inequality and neurodiversity, all in an accessible way with beautiful illustrations, characters, and activities. Me, You, and Them provides the best conversation starter to celebrate diversity with children at home or in the classroom.

“As an Asian business owner and author, I felt the diversity and inclusion space lacked content that was representative of the Asian voice. Our goal with this book is that every child can see themselves within the pages, either represented by the wide spectrum of diversity topics we cover, or through the beautiful multicultural characters illustrated within,” shares Michelle Yao, co-author and co-founder of Cyberlite Books.
